Effective ways to help your teenagers quit smoking
One of the most important thing to note here is that don’t ever try to force your teenager to stop smoking the more you pressurize him/her the more he would do it in front of you. Teenage is a very sensitive age and through this age, only the child builds his behavior. Do not try to make him/her aggressive. Be soft, kind, and generous to your child. You need to sit with him and tell him how he is ruining his career and health. Just hold his hand and guide him slowly. Tell him all the ill effects of smoking and how it can harm the working of his entire body.
Your responsibility here is to overcome their cigarette addiction. Shouting at them or yelling at them would not work as they already feel that their parents do not understand them. You need to ask them the reasons as to why they started taking up this habit. Once you talk to them may be you find out any serious reasons just explain them and help him to find an answer to his problems. One of the reason for teenagers to take up smoking is also the fact that they are not aware of its ill effects. Also exlpain to them that how much money they are wasting on smoking if they save that amount what all they can do with that money. Also tell them how difficult it is to get rid of smoking once it comes in their habit. Inform them about the presence of nicotine in cigarettes and what all it does to your brain. How it creates an urge in you for more smoking. Give him or her examples of someone in your family or neighborhood that has been badly affected by smoking.
Lastly, the only suggestion will be that help your child and not force him to stop smoking. You need to do something like that he himself says that I would not smoke from today!
