Chantix Side Effects

Like all other medicines Chantix also has certain side effects which cannot be neglected. The most important thing to note is that Chantix should only be taken with the proper prescription of  the doctor. Chantix patients have reported a lot of side effects such as nausea headache, sleep difficulties, constipation and gas. Chantix works by altering brain chemistry and carries certain risk factors that include change in mood and behavioral pattern. Chantix patients have also experienced suicidal thoughts and high depression.

Certain patients also complained that they could not stop crying for 5 days while they were on chantix. Other studies have also shown that this smoking cessation drug have caused patients to become hostile, aggression, homicidal thoughts and actions. The FDA has reported that these behavioral changes can  arise due to the Nicotine withdrawal symptoms or due to the alterations occurring in the brain.

There are certain psychiatric problems that are the problems which affect our mental health adversely. Such as abnormal dreams, nightmares, aggression, restlessness, agitation, abnormal thinking, erotic behavior, bradyphrenia, euphoric mood. Chantix affects our nervous system causing headache, fatigue, amnesia, migraine, dizziness, sensory disturbance and some visual side effects have also been reported.

Chantix also effects our reproductive system causing sexual dysfunction, breast disorders and some menstrual disturbances noticed in women’s.
It can also misbalance your digestive system by highly increasing or decreasing your appetite causing problems in the metabolism process. It can cause anorexia which is an eating disorder in which a person has certain problems with eating and he refuses to maintain a healthy body weight. It can also cause Hypokalemia and Hyperlipidemia.

Endocrine problems have also been seen such as Thyroid gland disorder and diabetes mellitus. Chantix can also cause eye irritation, dry eye, conjunctivitis, blurred vision, visual disturbance, night blindness and pain in the eyes. You can also notice problems with the skin such as skin getting dry on some problems of infrequent acne.

To avoid these Side effects some precaution can be taken which can protect you in future:
Before taking Chantix tell your doctor about any problems with mental health or high depression in your past.

Chantix should not be taken with other Quit smoking medicines and should only be taken when your doctor prescribes it for you. The dosage of Chantix should also be taken care on.

If you have a Kidney disorder you may need a lower dose of Chantix. If you are pregnant or planning to become so you must tell your doctor before you start taking Chantix.
